Fiber Discs

PFERD » Coated & Non-Woven Abrasives » Fiber Discs

PFERD offers a wide variety of fiber discs types to suit every need. Choose from material types including Aluminum Oxide, Zirconia and several grades of Ceramic discs! Standard and quick change versions available for all disc sizes.

Aluminum Oxide A

PFERD's product range includes a very high quality aluminum oxide fiber disc. The resin fiber disc is the most popular form of coated material in use. The advantages are clear; highly flexible for following contours, diverse range of diameters and grits, etc. The main disadvantage, frequent disc change-up requirements, are minimized by PFERD's use of top quality, premium coated material.

Aluminum Oxide A - COOL

A-COOL Fiber Discs are for general-purpose grinding, from coarse to ultra-fine, on poorly heat-conducting materials such as stainless steels. Special top-sizing also resists loading, and also perform very well on Aluminum.
Active additives in the coating ensure substantially increased stock removal while preventing loading and heat build-up in the workpiece. Available with standard arbor hole or 5/8-11 quick-change hub.

Zirconia Alumina Z

Zirconia alumina grain (Z) is the preferred abrasive material on alloyed and unalloyed steels. PFERD zirconium fiber discs are perfectly suited for edge breaking work, cutting of difficult-to-machine materials, high alloy stainless steels and high temperature non-ferrous metals such as Hastalloy, Inconel, Nimonic, etc. Cool grinding properties and a long service life.

Zirconia Alumina Z - COOL

For coarse but cool grinding at high stock removal rates. Zirconia alumina is a high-performance abrasive which delivers best results on powerful angle grinders at increased contact pressure. Active additives in the coating ensure substantially improved stock removal and a reduced thermal load on poor heat conducting materials.
Available with standard arbor hole or 5/8-11 quick-change hub.

Ceramic Oxide CO

For aggressive grinding achieving maximum stock removal rates. Nevertheless, these fiber discs attain a very long service life. Ceramic grain is particularly well suited for working on hard materials and coatings. To be used preferably with high-powered angle grinders.
Available with standard arbor hole or 5/8-11 quick-change hub.

Ceramic Oxide CO - COOL

Choose PFERD CO-COOL Ceramic Fiber Discs for aggressive grinding and maximum stock removal on hard, poor heat conducting materials. Active additives in the coating ensure a substantially improved abrasive performance while preventing loading and reducing heat build-up in the workpiece.

   •  Standard
   •  Quick Change

Ceramic Oxide CO - PMD

PFERD PMD Ceramic Fiber Discs are an economical alternative to the premium CO and CO-COOL discs. These discs have a lower concentration of ceramic grain, yet still offer good grinding performance on steels, Stainless and alloys.

Backing Pads and Accessories

Backing Pads for use with 7/8" ?and quick-change fiber discs. Available with a smooth surface (recommended for quick change discs) or ribbed surface rubber pads. Rib design allows for better cooling, which improves disc life. These pads are available in various densities. For general purpose grinding, the regular density is recommended. For maximum flexibility, choose the flexible pad. For Ceramic and Zirconia discs, the harder the backing pad, the better the disc performance.

   •  Plastic Backing Pads
   •  Smooth Surface Rubber Backing Pads
   •  Ribbed Surface Rubber Backing Pads
   •  Spare Nuts and Spanner Wrench
